WHAT TO EXPECT +
Minimally invasive lumbar discectomy is a sometimes less-invasive procedure to remove a herniated disc, or at least a portion of the herniated disc, from between vertebral bones. This reduces the pressure on the spinal nerve(s) that are causing symptoms such as pain in the lower back or leg(s).
The objective of lumbar laminectomy is to relieve pressure on the spinal nerve(s) in the lumbar spine, or lower back. A lumbar laminectomy can be performed to relieve symptoms such as back pain and radiating leg pain.
Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) is a type of artificial disc replacement in spine surgery that removes disc material from between two adjacent lumbar vertebrae. The surgeon performs this procedure by removing the disc space between the vertebrae, typically using minimally invasive techniques. Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion Surgery is also available as an open procedure.
